The citizenship amendment bill is used to make illegal migrants who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, J ains, Parsis, Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan ,who entered India on or before 31 December 2014, eligible for Indian citizenship.it is also seeks to relax the requirement of residence in India citizenship by naturalization from 11 years to 6 years for these migrants.
Immediate benificiaries of the bill according to IB report will be over 30000 people.
Indian parliament including both Lok Sabha and rajya sabha passed the bill and waiting for president approval,
WHY THIS BILL
During the 2014 election BJP promised citizenship for all hindu refugees from Bangladesh and Pakistan. AmithSha introduced national citizenship register (NRC). In north India so much people are living without citizenship. they all are came from Pakistan and Bangladesh. The official religion in Bangladesh and Pakistan are ISLAM. Both countries are exploiting and suppressing the minorities .
So they are moved to India for saving life. The bill reducing the naturalized citizenship length 11 tears to 6 years for the minorities
